Jason Carlisle was born in Cleethorpes in 1967 and has been painting and drawing since childhood.
Working mainly from his home studio, initially in abstract , achieving some early success with commissions for family and friends, a natural progression and newfound desire to improve artistic competence led him to attend evening classes at the Thrunscoe centre, studying People and Portraits ( City and Guilds level two ) taught by Linda Ingham . The sale of his final portrait to the parents of the sitter and another commission leading from that restarted a passion which continues still.
He has shown work at several local open art exhibitions had two works accepted at the Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery 2010 Open and had three Abstract pieces purchased and shown on Channel 4s Home Show.
First place winner of the Scunthorpe 20-21 Gallery's 2011 Open and, has recently had a large portrait aquired by North East Lincolnshire Council for their Grimsby Collection.
My biggest thrill is to create the sitter in oils on canvas, make or break with the stroke of a brush.
